reBlog from lezgetreal.com: Lesbian Albatrosses Cause Stir In New Zealand

I found this fascinating quote today:

04/02/10-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire Alisa Opar of the Audubon Magazine recently did a blog post regarding homosexuality in animals. The occasion had to do with a pair of female albatrosses who are about to raise a chick together at the New Zealand Taiaroa Head Royal Albatross Centre. There was a male involved in the creation of the egg which the pair of albatrosses are about to hatch, but he left as soon as the mating was over. This is not an atypical behavior according to some information that is out there. Often times, a same-sex animal couple will mate with an opposite sex member, conceive an offspring, and then the one that is not within the couple will leave the original pair to raise the offspring.lezgetreal.com, Lesbian Albatrosses Cause Stir In New Zealand, Mar 2010
